Joe Clarke Innovator Award

Joe Clarke (1951-2019) was a prolific innovator. He dedicated his 49-year career to innovation by thinking, re-thinking, creating “better” ways of doing things, inventing, researching, testing, documenting, and implementing “best” practices for professional print results of the screen and digital printing industry. Joe engineered dozens of inventions and held patents for many of his innovative contributions.

The Awards

The Joe Clarke Innovator Award aims to promote and honor the spirit of Joe’s genuine desire to improve our industry with the selfless example he demonstrated. Joe wrote hundreds of articles, technical papers, and the book “Control without Confusion.” He also conducted public training classes and seminars throughout his career with no compensation other than the satisfaction of helping others.

Recipients of these awards should be professionals with the same selfless attitude in their contributions that have helped to make our industry better and more profitable.

The three categories eligible to win the Joe Clarke Innovator Awards are:

  • Screen Print (Analog) Printing Technology
  • Digital Printing Technology
  • Business Innovation and Software Technology

    The recipient of this prestigious award will be selected by the Academy of Screen and Digital Print Technologies. The Award will be presented during the Association’s annual convention and trade show.


Qualifications of the Nominee

  • Qualifying nominees must exhibit the Joe Clarke spirit of innovation through inventing or renovating existing products, processes, or methodologies and have shared the knowledge, products, or methodologies with the public.
  • Qualifying nominee’s contribution must be widely accepted and in use at the time of the nomination.
  • The nominee does not have to be present to accept the award.

    *Posthumous awards will not be presented.

How to Apply

Nominations for the Annual PRINTING United Alliance Joe Clarke Innovator Awards must be submitted by May 15th of each year.
